The Seven Botanicals Formula

The Seven Botanicals formula is the whole of Rootévia Scalp & Root Nourishing Oil: seven plant ingredients carried in a conditioning base of two cosmetic esters. Nine ingredients total — no added fragrance, no dyes, no silicones. This page walks through every one of them, in the same order they sit on the label: biggest first.

Why we say "in a conditioning base"

Our phrase is "Seven Botanicals in a conditioning base", and every word is doing work. The two largest ingredients in the bottle are not botanicals. They are cosmetic esters, and their job is to carry the seven plant ingredients and spread them evenly across your scalp. That detail could have stayed quietly in the fine print. We put it in the name of the formula instead, because around here the label is the marketing: everything shown, biggest first, nothing hidden. The conditioning base: ingredients one and two

These two esters make up the largest share of the formula. They are the delivery system for everything that follows.

• Ethylhexyl Palmitate — the single largest ingredient. A cosmetic ester that carries the botanicals and helps them spread where you place the drops.
• Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride — the second largest, and the other half of the base. Same job: carry and spread.

The seven botanicals, biggest first

Everything below is a plant ingredient, listed in the order it appears on the label. The order matters: higher on the list means more of it in the bottle.

1. Wheat germ oil (Triticum Vulgare Germ Oil). The richest botanical in the bottle, naturally high in vitamin E. Worth knowing: it comes from wheat, so if you have a wheat allergy, this formula is not for you.
2. Castor seed oil (Ricinus Communis Seed Oil). A classic conditioning oil, used here in a small amount. People search castor oil and hair growth together constantly; that is folklore leaning on a drug claim, and Rootévia makes no growth claim — for castor oil or anything else in this bottle.
3. Ginger root oil (Zingiber Officinale Root Oil). Our only scent note. We add no fragrance; the faint warmth you notice is the ginger root oil itself, just being ginger.
4. Carrot seed oil (Daucus Carota Sativa Seed Oil). An antioxidant oil with a long history of use on dry skin and scalp.
5. Mango seed butter (Mangifera Indica Seed Butter). A butter that melts at skin temperature and adds slip, which makes the one-to-two-minute scalp massage easier.
6. Pumpkin seed oil PEG-8 esters. Pumpkin seed oil in ester form — light and even-spreading, so the drops go where you put them.
7. Aloe leaf extract (Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract). Calming and widely known. It sits last on the label, which means there is less of it than anything else. We would rather tell you that than let you assume more.

What this formula is for — and what it is not

Four things, all of them cosmetic: it nourishes the scalp, brings moisture to a dry-feeling scalp, conditions and softens hair, and adds a natural-looking shine. That is the complete list. Botanical oils attract a lot of folklore online, and much of it drifts into promises no cosmetic should make. Rootévia does not make them. How the formula fits the ritual

The routine is simple on purpose. Part your hair. Place three to five drops on the scalp along the partings. Massage for one to two minutes. Leave it in — no rinsing. Once or twice a day, about two minutes total. It is a leave-in oil dispensed from a glass dropper, so you use drops you can count, not glugs: a 30 mL bottle holds roughly 600 drops, which at three to five drops once daily lasts months.
